What are the active constituents of a Coca leaf and their effects ?
| Papain | enzyme that helps digestion and accelerate, healing properties for skin |
| Higrine | virtues has on blood circulation, and protects against acute mountain sickness |
| Quinoline | prevents the formation of dental caries, when mixed with calcium and phosphorus |
| Atropine | has a dehydrating effect on the respiratory tract |
| Benzoin | has a healing effect on skin properties antifermentation |
| Pectin | is an absorbent in the gut, very effective antidiarrheal |
| Globulin | a cardiotonic protein, which optimises the work of the heart, preventing tachycardia and low blood pressure, the immediate physiological response to altitudes above 3 000m. It is also an effective and essential remedy for the treatment of altitude sickness (also called acute mountain sickness), |
| Pyridine | stimulates blood circulation, facilitating oxygenation – particularly of the brain – reduced by slower blood flow, due to polycythaemia, which is the immediate physiological response to high altitudes |
| Reserpine | reduces high blood pressure, |
| Cocamine | has anaesthetic effects, |
| Coniine | a powerful local anaesthetic, |
| Cocaine | this alkaloid which represents 80 % of the alkaloids of the coca leaf, is a local anaesthetic which acts on external and internal damaged tissues |
| Ecgonine | acts on carbohydrate metabolism, generating energy, it is a complement to dietary regimes. |
| Inulin | improves liver function, the secretion of bile and its accumulation in the gallbladder. It is also a diuretic, helping to eliminate harmful and toxic non physiological substances. It is a polysaccharide which produces an increase in blood cells. |

Why use Coca leaves ?
Coca leaves are used mainly to treat altitude sickness. They help protect against the serious effects and risks due to a lack of oxygen. They also improve the oxygenation of the brain and reduce cardiovascular risks.
Combined with other plants: they are served in the form of herbal tea bags, the coca provides a remedial effect. It facilitates digestion. (If we compared it to our traditional products, we would say it is similar to traditional chamomile tea, but with better results).
